The name

Telic /ˈtɛlɪk/

Directed toward a particular end. From the Greek telos — end, goal, completion, purpose.

Not merely moving. Moving toward something.

The mark

Direction

Where the work is heading.

The intended end

The result that justifies the work.

The gap

Deliberate. The destination has not been reached yet. That space is where Telic works.

The question

What is this supposed to accomplish?

“I need a website” hides four different problems — credibility, leads, findability, lost orders — and they don't get the same build. The end determines the means. That's the whole method.

How the work runs

  1. Name the end

Before anything is designed, we establish what has to be true in six or twelve months for this to have been worth doing. If that cannot be stated in a sentence, it is too early to build.

  2. Find the real constraint

The stated problem and the actual problem are often different. We look at where money, time and customers are currently being lost — which is rarely where people expect.

  3. Decide the smallest thing that moves it

Then we cut. The first build should be the minimum that changes the number, because everything beyond that is a guess until real usage exists.

  4. Build it properly

Small does not mean rough. It means fewer things, done to a standard that will not need replacing next year.

  5. Check it against the end

Once it is live, the only question that matters is the one from step one. If the answer is no, we say so and adjust rather than sell a phase two.

Telic and ServersRus

Two layers of the same idea about technology.

Purpose Capability Outcome

Two separate businesses. Hire Telic without caring where it's hosted; use ServersRus without ever hearing of Telic. Built by Telic. Powered by ServersRus.

Where the line is

Telic is not an agency that does everything.

No bolt-on social media, logos or IT support until the name means nothing. We build the technology that solves the business problem — and let that expertise get deeper, not wider.
